A lightning start by Barrow paved the way for an important 3-1 home win over Hartlepool.
They scored three times in the opening 21 minutes and that set up the victory which moved the Bluebirds up to fourth in the table.
Manager Pete Wild had questioned his side on the starts they were making after last week’s 1-0 defeat at Crawley.
“We spoke about in the dressing room afterwards and I let the players have their say. They certainly carried it out well against Hartlepool to lay the foundations for the win,” said Wild.
After only four minutes a mistake by Hartlepool keeper Ben Killip helped provide Barrow with the opening goal to spark a fourth successive home league win.
Killip had rushed out of his area as Barrow pushed forward but he lost possession and Josh Gordon prospered, curling in his 10th goal of the campaign from 25 yards.
Four minutes later, Ben Whitfield who has so often been the provider of goals for his Barrow team-mates, drilled a shot past Killip for his fifth of the season.
It didn’t get any better for Keith Curle’s bottom-of-the-table strugglers when Gordon laid on a chance for Billy Waters which he eagerly accepted for his seventh goal.
Curle must have given his side a tongue-lashing at half-time because they were much better in the second-half, taking the game to Barrow.
Indeed home keeper Paul Farman had to make a number of good saves to keep-out Pool’s best efforts but could do nothing about Chris Missilou’s 77th-minute debut goal.
But it was scant consolation for Curle and his side who were punished for their abysmal start.
