Several windows have been smashed at a Barrow community centre – causing food due to be given out to people struggling with the cost of living to be thrown away.
Police are investigating the incident at the centre on Suffolk Street, which is believed to have happened between 9pm on Wednesday and 10.45am on Thursday.
The total cost of the damage is not yet known, police said, but a quantity of food, stored in the building and intended to be given away to the community, had to be thrown away as it was potentially contaminated with fragments of glass.
