Thousands of people turned out – and queued – for Kendal Mountain Festival over the weekend.
Festival-goers enjoyed special guest speakers, exclusive film screenings and literature talks alongside organised outdoor events including a 10k and more.
The free ‘social hub’ of the event known as basecamp was spread out across two locations this year. The first was the Shackleton Tent outside the Brewery Arts Centre and a new larger space at Abbot Hall Park.
Hundreds of people packed in at once into the tents to chat with representatives from famous outdoor brands, attend free talks and buy food and drink from vendors. Attending brands included Patagonia, Terrex, Rab, Buff, Danners and The North Face.
Guest speakers covered topics ranging from stories of adventure to representation in the outdoors and more.
On the Saturday, the turnout was so great, that event-goers queued for up to 20 minutes to get into the Abbot Hall Park basecamp. Event organisers also said the Friday of the event was bigger than ever before.
Several big outdoor and sporting stars attended the festival, including the likes of adventurer Ranulph Fiennes, woodsman Ray Mears and world-leading mountaineer Kenton Cool.
For those who missed out on this year’s event, an online version of the festival, presented by Danners, is able to be accessed online for a fee.
The 2022 online festival pass allows people to enjoy the events and guest speakers from the comfort of their own homes and includes access to the festival’s film programme on-demand.
