Helen Skelton needs Cumbria’s help if she is to get through to Strictly’s quarter final.

Now in week 10 of the competition with only seven couples remaining, the Cumbrian sweetheart will need all the votes she can get next week to make it through to the finals.

Despite the pressure, both Helen and her dance partner Gorka Marquez said they were on cloud nine following Strictly’s big Blackpool special.

The duo have been sharing their enthusiasm all over social media following this weekend’s big live show and have thanked voters for keeping them in the competition so far.

The couple blew the judges away once again with their quickstep on Saturday night and scored a whopping 39, only one point shy of the maximum score of 40.

Post-dance, Helen took to Instagram and said: “I’m so happy we got three 10s, can I carry a 10 over to next week? It didn’t even feel stressful or nerve-wracking, it was just fun, the whole thing was just so fun.”

Helen remains a strong favourite to win, with bookies odds currently sat at 1/6.

Speaking in an Instagram post, the star added: “Thank you for being on this crazy adventure with us! Thank you for getting us to Blackpool and beyond. Gorka you did it again, take a bow!”

Gorka also took to Instagram to shower Helen with praise and compliment her growing confidence on the dancefloor.

He said: “Helen I am so proud of you and the way you danced last night but I’m more of proud of how much you enjoyed it on that floor. You’re a superstar! Thank you to everybody for your lovely messages!.”

The professional dancer’s praise comes after he acknowledged earlier this month that the star was having a rough time following her high profile split from ex-husband Richie Myler.

Live on air, Gorka wrapped his arm around Helen and said: “I know you’ve been having a difficult time and I know you may feel like you’re not beautiful or good enough or anything. But if you don’t believe in yourself, I believe in you. Everybody here believes in you.”

Helen appeared awkward while Gorka praised her and later addressed his comments while speaking with The Sun, she said: “What I love about Gorka is that he has my very best interests at heart, and we are genuinely very good friends. But sometimes, maybe, we need to talk about what he’s allowed to say publicly.”

To vote for Helen and Gorka this week, when the vote opens, shimmy over to the Strictly homepage. The vote can be found at the top of the page.

Fans can also vote online at www.bbc.co.uk/strictly or by scanning the QR code displayed on screen during the show with all the other voting information. The QR code can be scanned by mobile, tablet or computer.

For those who don’t want to vote online, voting by phone is still available. The phone numbers will be given out in the show and be made available on the Strictly homepage whilst the vote is open.
