A Carlisle furniture and homeware store raised over £330 for the Great North Air Ambulance thanks to generous shoppers.
Rockit Home, on Cecil Street, is run by Ursh Stevens and the popular store held the event earlier this month. Shoppers bought tickets and raffle tickets to help boost the charity’s coffers. Other local businesses also had stalls at the event.
Ursh said: “We’ve done it for a few years now – coronavirus permitting – and it’s a nice way for people to come together – a glass of prosecco, a few nibbles and shopping; plus raising cash for a good cause. People say it’s a good chance for them to catch up with others before the rush of the Christmas period.”
She thanked everyone who attended to support Rockit and the stallholders.
She added: “The cost of living today worries us all but the fact you supported so many small businesses as well as GNAAS means a huge amount. It’s not about spending lots it’s about showing us support.”
Raffle prizes were donated by local businesses and included a signed book from Michelin starred chef Simon Rogan.
The event raised £331 for the Great North Air Ambulance – a charity which is close to Ursh’s heart after the emergency responders helped a family member.
Youngsters can meet Mrs Claus at Rockit Homes on December 17; she will tell them about life at the North Pole and over hot chocolate and cookies read a story to them. They will also receive a gift. Tickets are £15 and can be booked via Rockit Homes’ Facebook page.
