Free parking in Barrow this weekend

Free parking is on offer for shoppers in Barrow this weekend to encourage people to support the town’s independent traders.

Barrow BID’s Shop Barrow Day will be held on Saturday and there will be no charge for people parking in council-owned car parks – excluding the multi-storey car park.

Many businesses will offer discounts to support the event and there will also be music and entertainment throughout the town to help add to the festive atmosphere.

Sandra Collings, BID director, said: “As a small business owner and Director of Barrow BID, we are always getting asked whether parking can be made free.  With Shop Barrow Day, we have once again been able to grant that wish, so I would encourage everyone to seize the opportunity and to come and see what our town centre has to offer!.”

Jason Forsyth, BID marketing and communications co-ordinator, added: “Times are tough right now for businesses, so Shop Barrow Day is a great opportunity for you to be able to shop local and support your town.

“Although we are calling it Shop Barrow Day, there is much more to the town centre than just retail, so why not meet a friend for dinner or grab a glass of mulled wine at the same time!”

Barrow BID has worked with Barrow Borough Council to offer the free parking.
