Over 2,000 cannabis plants have been seized and two men arrested after police raided two drugs farms in West Cumbria.
Yesterday, November 24, detectives raided a property on King Street in Whitehaven – the town’s main shopping street – and found almost 1,500 plants.
The building was raided at around 12.35pm and two men have been arrested and charged.
Huy Tran, 23, of no fixed address, and Ty Vo, 33, of no fixed address, have been charged with production of a controlled drug of class B – cannabis.
Both have been remanded in custody.
On Wednesday, detectives raided a property on John Street, Maryport and found nearly 600 cannabis plants.
Enquiries are ongoing, but no arrests have been made at this stage, police said.
Detective Superintendent Matt Scott said “We continue to be proactive in tackling drug activity in Cumbria. We will act upon intel and reports around the cultivation of drugs and drug supply in Cumbria.
“We would urge anyone who has any suspicions about any buildings that might be used for illegal purposes to come forward with information.”
