Garden waste collections are set to end for the winter this month.

Allerdale council provides a fortnightly garden waste collection to most households but collections are postponed over the winter months, as the amount of waste produced by green-fingered residents drops off.

The last collections for 2022 are either the week commencing Monday December 5 or week commencing Monday December 12, depending on the collection round that the property is on. The last collection will take place on Friday December 16.

Residents can check their last collection date on the council’s website at: https://www.allerdale.gov.uk/en/bincollections/

Garden waste collections return in March 2023.

During the time where there are no garden waste collections, garden waste can be taken to household waste recycling centres at Maryport, Wigton and Workington.
