Workington Comets have announced their first signing ahead of their relaunch in the National Development League.
Luke Harrison is a British Champion having claimed the 2022 250cc class title by a clear 10 points, despite missing the final round due to National League commitments with Mildenhall.
He made a small number of late season guest appearances for the Fen Tigers, figuring prominently especially in the play off semi-finals against Berwick where he raced to a heat win in his very first race at this level, coming from third place to overcome the home pair.
Following on from that he sensationally went on to record a full 12 point maximum in the return leg.
The youngster who has many previous appearances at the old Northside track is a former Wolverhampton mascot and despite being only aged 15 has lots of experience both at home and across Europe with Neil Vatchers British Youth Squad.

Included was an appearance in the 2022 SGP3 Final, the World Individual Championship for under 16s held in Wroclaw, Poland, where he scored a creditable 6 points alongside the world’s best at that level.
Although he has already made a number of outings at National League level his appearances have been managed to ensure he didn’t complete enough meetings to gain a racing average for the new season and comes into 2023 as a newcomer on an assessed figure of 3 points.
Workington promoter Andrew Bain says that recruiting his seven riders to start the season is going well and he expects to have a competitive team.
