Hensingham U16s celebrate their very close West Cumbria Grand Final win over Wath Brow Hornets in September (Ben Challis)

Cumbria Crack has an army of photographers out and about over almost every weekend of the year, capturing triumphs and tragedies on sports fields across the county.

We are a big believer in grassroots sport – and headed by veteran sports writer John Walsh (he doesn’t like being called a legend, although that’s what we think he is) – we do our best to keep you in touch with what is going on around Cumbria.

One of our regular contributors is photographer Ben Challis. You’ll often seen him on the sidelines! We gave him the unenviable task of choosing some of his pictures to help sum up 2022 – he’s taken hundreds this year so it was a big ask and proved difficult for him to narrow down.

He selected some of his favourite photos of the year as Ben’s festive crackers…..Here they are and we hope you enjoy!
