Abs Obasoto

Clitheroe will have a new player for Monday’s home clash with Workington in NPL West.

Abimbola Obasoto has joined the Blues from Macclesfield and the winger will go straight into the match-day squad.

Assistant manager David Dempsey said: “Abs is an extremely exciting footballer with an abundance of quality in wide areas. He will become a fan favourite and a delight to watch.”

“As a management team we are delighted to welcome Abs to the group from Macclesfield FC. He will be straight in the squad against Workington and we are really looking forward to working with him for the remainder of the season.

“There have been a number of clubs, in our league and above, eager to secure his signature, and so our thanks and appreciation goes out to all at Macclesfield for making this deal happen.”

He scored 12 goals for Bury AFC last season in the North West Counties League before linking up with Macclesfield where he has figured in five senior games for the NPL West leaders.

Described as lightning fast the 21 year old had started his career with Morecambe’s Academy before joining Bury.
