Elliot Newby says he’s really pleased to be reunited with manager Pete Wild as he returns to hometown club Barrow.
Newby, back at Holker Street after seven years, says: “It was something I thought might happen one day and of course I played under Pete at Halifax last season.
“I know how he operates and what he expects of his players and I’m looking forward to playing under his management again.
“I like to play on the front-foot, be positive and score a few goals and provide assists. It will be great to get a chance at last in the Football League.”
Although Newby had a part to play in Stockport’s promotion to League Two last season he’s had limited opportunities this time round.
All his career has been in non-League with 15 games for Barrow under Darren Edmondson and then service with Telford, Altrincham, Chorley and Stockport.
He played 11 games on loan under Wild last season and another six back at Altrincham.
“I used to sit in the stands as a young boy and watch Barrow so it meant a lot going out there and playing for my hometown club. It will be the same again and I just hope we can give the fans something to remember the season for.
“The team made a great start to the season and I hope we can produce a similar finish, just taking it game by game,” he said.
