Mark Greenaway

Well-known chef Mark Greenaway is opening two new restaurants at a Lake District hotel this month.

Mark Greenaway at the Haweswater Hotel will be a fine dining restaurant, while Brasserie 37, named after the year the hotel was completed, will be a more informal dining room with log fires and an Art Deco bar.

Mark said: “Being part of such a historic building in the inspirational and magnificent Lake District is a chef’s dream. A stunning local larder of world class ingredients, with a sense of potential and a true home from home feel in a picturesque location.

“Our guests will experience some new and unique dishes in serene and majestic yet snug surroundings. Relaxing and accessible to all, an experience we hope they will wish to return time and again.

“Our focus will be on delighting our diners with memories to cherish, a journey with splendid food, drink and hospitality in a friendly and graceful fashion.”

The newly restored Signature Restaurant and brasserie will open on January 15.

From a young age, Mark cultivated his passion for cooking while working at some of the finest dining establishments around the world, including One Devonshire Gardens, where his determination and passion led him to be the only chef in Scotland to be newly awarded 3 AA Rosettes for Culinary Excellence in 2012.

He opened his eponymous award-winning restaurant, Restaurant Mark Greenaway, in Edinburgh in 2013. In 2019, he opened Grazing by Mark Greenaway in the city and Pivot in London opened in 2021.

Pivot is in the Michelin Guide and has two AA rosettes.

Mark has also made a number of TV appearances, including representing Scotland on BBC2’s Great British Menu in 2012 and in 2013.
