Kendal Town moved through to the Westmorland County Cup semi-final after beating Appleby 4-0.
But they had to get through an awkward ten minutes when goalkeeper Danny Roccia was sent to the sin-bin.
New defender Elliot Wilson took over the gloves and Appleby weren’t able to take advantage,
Roccia was sin-binned after 68 minutes with Kendal already 3-0 to the good.
In fact Wilson had marked his home debut by scoring the third Kendal by then, prodding home a corner in the 56th minute.
Kendal had taken the lead on 18 minutes from a great strike by Ben Thomas who let go from 25 yards,
The second came on 29 minutes when Finley Lynch showed great composure in the box to pick his spot and beat the keeper.
After debutant Wilson scored the third and had his stint in goal Kendal added the fourth in the second minute of time added on. Tom Kilifin found himself unchallenged in the box and the club’s top scorer didn’t miss.
Manager Jimmy Marshall said: “It was a successful afternoon. We showed respect to the competition by putting out a strong team. But we got minutes into lads who needed them and were able to rest a few others.
“We scored four goals and kept a clean sheet and are through to a Cup sem-final so I’m happy.”
Kendal have another Cup-tie to contest on Tuesday when they travel to New Mills for the Macron Cup.
The winners of that game will have home advantage in the quarter finals against Avro.
