A Carlisle man has been jailed for four years after breaching the terms of a court order.
Gary Crandley, 44, of Huntington Place, was sentenced at Carlisle Crown Court last week for two breaches of a sexual harm prevention order.
Crandley’s offending was uncovered following proactive work by officers from Cumbria Constabulary’s management of sexual and violent offenders team.
Crandley was issued with a court order in 2017 which prevented him from using any internet enabled device without notifying offender management officers. These terms were in place so officers could examine his internet history.
Officers found that Crandley had used two mobile phones in November and December last year, without notifying his offender manager that he had access to these devices.
Detective Constable Jessica Myers was the investigating officer, she said: “Crandley was fully aware of the terms of the sexual harm prevention order imposed against him when he used a phone belonging to a friend.
“He had not informed us of his access to this and another phone, therefore he was arrested and our investigation has brought him to justice.
“We work hard to monitor and manage people who are subject to such orders. Like in this case, we will find out if they breach the terms of these preventative orders and we will do all we can to ensure they are held accountable for their offending.”
