Plans for a new restaurant in Seascale near the sea front have been revealed.
Benjamen Seed of Gosforth has applied to Copeland Borough Council for permission to change the building, on South Parade, into an eatery.
Mr Seed, who also owns Marra Bikes and Boards, wants to transform the former Shackles Off Youth Project building into a single-storey restaurant and café space.
While he said he could not confirm or deny the rumours that the space is set to become a fish and chip restaurant – he said they were ‘not far off’ what they envisage for the future.
The restaurant is set to be open six days a week and have enough space for 35 customers – opening at 11.30am and closing at 10.30pm in summer and 11.30am and 6.30pm in the winter.
It is also set to create at least two part time jobs and two full time jobs.

Part of the development will include the installation of a ventilation system towards the back of the building, to allow the restaurant to serve fried foods and dispose of cooking oil correctly.
The work will also see in the creation of a new customer seating area and full kitchen – but no structural alterations or changes to the building itself will take place.
As part of the application, Mr Seed said he was engaging with the local community and that he looked forward to opening a business that would hopefully benefit Seascale and West Cumbria.
On social media, Mr Seed said: “We are really chuffed to own such a beautiful building and some may have noticed a hive of activity recently whilst we are renovating – it’s very exciting times.
“We are looking to use the ground floor of the building as a business that can benefit locals, act as a meeting place and be somewhere that Seascale residents can be proud of.”
Shackles Off Youth Project formerly used the building as a walk in hub and office space and has now moved to The Vicarage in Seascale while its new, larger HQ is built after it outgrew the smaller space on South Parade.
