Workington are the latest Cumbria League club to announce their overseas player for the 2023 season.
Davis Mills, a 26-year-old Kiwi will be the club’s overseas amateur, taking over from Sri Lankan Jahiru Dilshan who had been a club professional for the last two years.
All rounder Mills, who plays for the New Plymouth club in his native New Zealand, is a top order batsman and pace bowler. He has been in top form for his club and will be in the UK for Workington’s opening game in the National Cup.
A club spokesman said: “Davis arrives with a huge amount of experience in coaching and has all the assets the club requires to have a successful season.
“He will be a huge asset in our community, working with our juniors and assisting both school training sessions and our club sides.
“Davis has been chosen for his strong coaching record and community work to assist us going forward.”
Workington have been drawn at home to Ribblesdale League side Cherry Tree from Blackburn on Sunday, April 16 and Mills will be set to make his debut in the tie.
If they are successful in that game they will travel to St Anne’s in the next round.
