Dan Richardson looks destined for a successful career after his recent debut for Leicester Tigers in the Premiership.
But the 26-year-old Cumbrian forward has not forgotten his roots as he demonstrated on a flying visit home to Penrith.
The ex-Penrith player, a product of the club’s successful youth system, made a quick visit to Winters Park.
With the Tigers not having a fixture on Saturday Dan took the opportunity to travel north to visit family and introduce his three-month-old son.
Dan’s ex-coach Tim Shepherd arranged for him to return to Winters Park and spend some time with the Under-13 boys’ team at their weekly training session, focussing on tackling and scrummaging techniques.
He then stayed on to help out the senior coaching team prepare for their Regional 2 North fixture.
Dan said: “It was good to be back at Penrith and see children that were in my position a few years ago. It felt good passing on what I’ve learnt from my journey so far and give back to the club where I started my youth pathway and also started my senior career.
“Hopefully I have shown that you don’t need to go though the Academy system, be selected for age grade honours like county or England, to play at the top level. If you keep playing for enjoyment opportunities will come.”
