A 90s stereo system donated to a Carlisle charity shop has sold for over £800.
Staff and volunteers at Carlisle’s British Heart Foundation were surprised to receive the stereo system fully working and decided to place it on auction on the charity’s eBay page.
The ‘vintage’ stereo was completely intact, complete with a cassette deck, compact disc player, turntable system, and amplifiers.

With a starting price of £49.99 it received a whopping 59 bids over five days, with the winner bidding £820.52.
Mark Harbertson, assistant manager, said: “Charity shops are great for finding nostalgic, retro items that you can’t find elsewhere, and we are thrilled that this Hi-Fi system was so popular. It’s great to have raised money from such a unique item donated to our Carlisle store.

“We can’t carry out our vital research without generous donations like this from the public. We always welcome quality, preloved items to our stores – it’s only through these donations that we can fund research to find new treatments and cures for heart and circulatory conditions.”
