A man accused both of conspiring to commit arson and the illegal possession of two mobile phones in prison is to stand trial in front of a jury later this year.
Kane Luke Hull, 30, faced a total of three charges when he appeared at Carlisle Crown Court earlier today.
One alleges that Hull conspired together with another man to commit arson — involving a vehicle — on October 3 last year.
Two other charges allege that Hull possessed two prohibited items, namely mobile phones, inside a prison, HMP Frankland, on October 11.
During this morning’s short hearing, Hull pleaded not guilty to all three charges. Hull spoke in court to confirm his name, date of birth and enter his pleas.
He is now due to stand trial at the crown court. This hearing is due to start on May 16 and, it is estimated, will last around four days.
In the meantime Hull, previously of no fixed address, will remain in custody.
