Carlisle road set to close for two weeks for repairs

A Carlisle road is set to be closed for two weeks for repairs.

Structural road repairs to Etterby Street will start on Monday March 13 by Cumbria County Council.

The work is expected to finish on Friday March 24, weather permitting and a full road closure will be in place between the A7 Scotland Road and Eden Place.

There will be a signed diversion route through Etterby Scaur, Briar Bank and Scotland Road.

The county council will work between 8am and 5pm each day, which means parking will be disrupted, and residents and the local community are asked to find alternative parking.

A spokesman said: “The county council will, unfortunately, not be able to reopen the road at the end of every shift due to the nature of the work being carried out and apologise for any inconvenience this will cause.”

If people have any special requirements or need to discuss access arrangements, they can liaise with traffic marshalls who will be on site.

Alternatively, people can contact the Highways Hotline on 0300 303 2992.
