Organisers of a popular West Cumbrian road race have been forced to cancel today’s event due to the weather.
Lorton 10k – which raises funds for the village school, near Cockermouth, posted on social media: “We have three inches of snow to melt on an already wet parking field and with freezing temperatures overnight, the course will likely be very slippy. We are already working on an alternative date and will be publishing and emailing options for you all shortly.
“Thank you for your patience and understanding.”
