Stagecoach has capped the Workington to Carlisle bus route at £2 in line with a new Government scheme.
As part of the Department for Transport’s new nationwide scheme to help with the current cost of living, single fares have been capped at just £2 until the end of June 2023.
The 300 bus route calls in at Maryport, Aspatria and Wigton before terminating in Carlisle.
Rob Jones, managing director of Stagecoach Cumbria & North Lancashire said: “For commuters heading to Carlisle, our 300 bus route offers a great way to get a head start on your day as well as some fantastic locations to explore on a family day out.
“We hope to encourage more people to travel by bus for work commutes and beyond, to help improve the air quality across the region as well as help people spread their money further.”
Funded with £60 million under the Government’s Help for Households programme, the Department for Transport initiative is intended to help the public with cost of living pressures during winter 2023.
