Barrow legend Steve McNulty has resigned as manager of NPL West club Bootle after seven months in charge.
The 39-year-old former Bluebirds defender decided to leave after Bootle lost in the Liverpool Senior Cup on Wednesday to Runcorn Linnets.
One of his best results in charge of Bootle was last month when they won at Borough Park to dent Workington’s title hopes.
Bootle, however, have moved quickly to find a replacement and Dave McNabb, who led Warrington Rylands to the NPL West title last season – pipping Reds on the final day of th season – has been appointed.
At Rylands, McNabb led them from the North West Counties to the Northern Premier League Premier Division.
After leaving The Blues, McNabb took charge of Macclesfield, where he replaced Danny Whittaker. However, he resigned soon after due to work commitments.
The Bucks say he will take charge immediately, and his first game will be on Saturday against Colne.
McNulty featured for Barrow, Fleetwood Town, Luton Town, Tranmere Rovers and York City, before a stint in the Northern Premier League with Witton Albion.
At the back end of 2021, McNulty went to Chester as assistant manager and was registered as a player.
