A Cumbrian woman was one of the protestors who disrupted the World Snooker Championship.
Margaret Reid, 52, of Kendal, was stopped from climbing onto a snooker table by a referee and carried away while her fellow protestor, a 25-year-old student, managed to clamber on top of one and cover it in orange powder paint.
The pair are from the Just Stop Oil group and the protest was to call on the UK sporting institutions to join in their call to stop all new UK fossil fuel projects.
At around 7.20pm at the Crucible in Sheffield the pair interrupted play. They were arrested.
Their actions forced a 24-hour suspension in the match between Robert Milkins and Joe Perry.
This morning, Just Stop Oil issued a statement from Ms Reid, a former museum professional.
She said: “I am angry and heartbroken that I have found myself in a position where taking this sort of disruptive action is the only way to get heard.”
