Penrith Lions May Day Carnival makes a welcome return after a three-year absence with many of the previous contributors taking part.
We have a full and varied programme of entertainment lined up for you this year at the event, which takes place on Monday, May 1.
So please do come along, bring the family and have some fun – there is something to suit all ages – young and old in this 40th anniversary event.
Penrith Lions May Day Carnival is just one of many activities we organise throughout the year to raise funds for local and international charities, none of which would be possible without the generosity of the people of Penrith and Eden and we thank you for your continued support during the year.

Our programme will be out soon but some of the events will be:
- Funfair – at Sandgate car park and Great Dockray.
- Games – for the family in the morning.
- Several Street stalls – including ourselves!
- May Queen – this year the girls from Queen Elizabeth Grammar School have the honour of representing the carnival.
- Entertainment – many acts including the Soul Survivors, Langwathby Maypole dancers, Cheerleaders and a steel band.
- Display of classic and vintage vehicles in Middlegate.
- Carnival parade – the days finale, a spectacular parade setting off from Devonshire Street, through Middlegate, returning by the same route.
