Barrow RNLI was called out to help a fishing boat which had lost power while out at sea.

The volunteer crew was called at around 1.45pm yesterday, April 27, to help the 12ft yacht, with one person on board, which had broken down about a mile east of Foulney Island.

The RNLI’s volunteer crew from Barrow Lifeboat Station launched their inshore lifeboat this afternoon to go to the aid of a fishing vessel which had lost power.

Inshore lifeboat, Raymond and Dorothy Billingham, was launched at 1.55pm with Jonny Long at the helm, assisted by Paul Wilcock and Michael Armstrong.

The lifeboat towed the boat to the safety of the Ferry Pitching and the waiting team from Furness Coastguard.

The lifeboat was stood down and returned to the boathouse at 3.10pm.
