The Sally

A north Cumbrian village inn is on the market for £470,000.

The Sally, in Irthington, near Carlisle is up for sale with Fleurets.

Jimmy Little and Shaun Gardner bought the five-bedroom inn seven years ago and said it was a hard decision to put in on the market, but were having to sell due to health reasons.

Jimmy said: “When we bought the Sally in 2016 we underwent a £500,000 renovation of the property, which included replumbing, reconfiguring and an extension.

“We wanted the Sally to be a social hub for the community and this was at the forefront of the decisions we made which included a sheltered outside area and a new bar. These areas, and all the renovations, were created so that everyone in the community and further afield could benefit.”

The Sally is close to Carlisle Lake District Airport and is popular with visitors to Hadrian’s Wall.

Jimmy added: “Last June we were at 99 per cent occupancy, which is considerably higher than Cumbria Tourism’s occupancy report. The letting rooms are particularly popular from mid-April till the end of September which is the peak season for Hadrian’s Wall.”

The Sally also has a 60-cover restaurant, 24-cover bar, lounge and a two-bedroom private apartment.

Lesley Watmough, divisional director of Fleurets North West added: “The freehold of the Sally is available to purchase of a guide price of £470,000, the property is being sold due to ill health and this is reflected in the price. We are only considering serious offers as this is a fantastic opportunity.”
