Sam Haynes is joining Whitehaven on loan from Rochdale Hornets.
Haynes came through the junior systems at Super League side St Helens before leaving the Totally Wicked Stadium to link up with the Hornets ahead of the 2023 season.
Haynes has turned out for the Hornets in pre-season as well as seeing some action for Salford Devils reserves in 2023 and comes in at a critical time as head coach Jonty Gorley needs some reinforcements in the outside backs.
Daniel Spencer-Tonks will spend the next month with Rochdale Hornets to get much needed match fitness. The prop has not had much game time in recent weeks.
Gorley said: “Dan leaves the club to get some game time and needs to be playing and we’ve got experienced middles in front of Dan at the moment.
“When this deal come up it works well for us as we are desperate for an outside back and Dan gets the game time he needs. Sam has come through a fantastic structure at St Helens and has played England academy so we’re looking forward to see what he can do.”
Both players will be out on loan for an initial two weeks with both clubs having a 48 hour recall period for the remainder of the loan
