Rescue teams were called to aid a woman who sustained a ‘nasty’ arm injury after falling down a Lake District fell.
Cockermouth Mountain Rescue Team were called out yesterday afternoon to Haystacks to treat the woman who had experienced a ‘tumbling’ fall while walking back down the fell.
The team treated the woman on the hill and established she would need to go to hospital due to her symptoms.
Crew members then carried her on a stretcher a short distance to a Coastguard Rescue helicopter waiting for them in Scarth Gap.

The team added that Cockermouth residents may have heard the rescue helicopter making multiple trips back and forth over the town.
A spokesperson said: “Those of you local to Cockermouth probably heard and saw the Coastguard helicopter later on – it’s not uncommon for our kit (and occasionally team/crew members) to end up a bit mixed up when casualties get flown off a hill.
“Sometimes we get the chance to sort that out at the end of the callout rather than over the following week!”
