The full weekend rugby league programme has been saved when it looked to be in trouble because of a shortage of referees.
All four scheduled games will now go ahead, with three of them being played tonight and a fourth tomorrow afternoon.
The Holmen Iggesund Cumberland ARL secretary Lorraine Degraffe said: “After a lot of phone calls, text messages and effort from everyone concerned we have managed to get all four games on this weekend.
“It’s a massive thank you to everyone for their help in this and I just hope next weekend is a bit more straight forward!”
Kells A v Maryport tonight will be refereed by Trevor Dryden; Rob Scott will take charge of the game between Elbra A and Wath Brow A while the Cockermouth v Glasson clash will have Rob Jones in the middle.
Distington v Hensingham A will be played tomorrow afternoon with Rob Scott the man with the whistle.
Rob Jones, in fact, is in for a busy time of it tonight at Cockermouth when he will officiate in three games being staged at Highfield.
The Titans are excited to be launching their first ever girls’ team tonight when a squad of Under-12s go into action for the first time against Egremont (ko 6pm).
Club official David Whitworth said: “It’s an historic night for the club when we send our first Girls team into a competitive game, and it will br part of what we hope will be a very special night of rugby.
“It’s being billed as one referee, one pitch and three matches, and hopefully there will be plenty of people there to watch it all.”
Next on at 6.50pm is a boys Under-14s game in which title-chasing Cockermouth Titans take on one of the teams that can stop them winning the league, Kells.
Then to cap an eventful night there’s the Holmen Iggesund Cumberland ARL clash between the Titans and Glasson Rangers.
