Workington’s first bubble tea shop is getting ready to open its doors.
Egg Tea Fine will officially open to the public next week on bank holiday Monday May 29 at 11am.
Owned by Wing Hang Kwong and his wife Anna, the shop is a new venture for the duo who have lived in the area for seven years.
Wing said he was inspired to set up the new shop by his wife and children’s love for the Taiwanese drink.
He added: “It’s of course all very exciting but there has been a lot of hard work to do. We will mainly be selling the tea, bubble waffles and Hong Kong egg treats.
“We also have a kitchen in the shop as well but we’re still decorating it. So after we’re finished we will provide more hot food like noodles, sushi and some other things.”
Wing has previously worked in a Taiwanese-owned bubble tea shop which has allowed him to gain experience in how to authentically make bubble tea.
He also works for Hot Woks – a top rated Chinese takeaway based on Harrington Road in the town and has worked with food for a large part of his life.
He added: “It’s a little shop, so it will be takeaway and after we open my wife will be in the shop more than me. I don’t think there’s any other bubble tea shops in Workington, so I am hoping we will do well.”
Drinks for sale will include classic milk tea, fruit tea and special milk tea in several flavours alongside a large range of juice filled boba and jelly topping options.
The new shop is located just outside the town centre on 26 Finkle Street situated between Tony Marks Hair Studio and James Core Beauty.
