Barrow Raiders have got their season up and running in Group Two of the Betfred Women’s Super League.
Following an opening 30-8 defeat to Featherstone, the south Cumbrians proved far too strong for Bradford Bulls as they won 42-0.
The Bulls had actually drawn 12-12 in their opening game with current League leaders Leigh Leopards so this may have been an outstanding from Amanda Wilkinson’s Barrow side.
They had led 26-0 at half-time after a dominant performance and which had been built on a fine opening quarter in which Emma Hutchinson scored two unconverted tries.
They were followed by a try from Hannah Sherlock, which Beth Pattison converted and Bradford had only been seen as a side intent on defending their own line.
After they did at last make inroads they were immediately punished when Sherlock off-loaded superbly under pressure and Michelle Larkin raced 40 metres for the try which Pattinson converted.
Right on half-time Barrow scored again when Leah Clough went 45 metres to score and again Pattinson added the extras.
Barrow continued to dominate from the restart and quickly increased their lead as Clough and Sherlock both added to their earlier tries and Pattinson converted both.
Although Bradford stemmed the flow of tries they could not make the home line and the only further score came five minutes from the end when Kelly Friend went over for Barrow but Pattinson was unable to convert.
