Barrow Raiders were impressive 48-6 winners over Castleford Tigers in their Women’s Super League home clash,
It was their second victory in three games so far and moves them up to second just a point behind Leigh Leopards.
They made the best possible start with three tries in the first quarter of the game, one of them converted by Beth Pattinson.
Winger Sam Norman went in for a brace of touchdown and in between prop Jodie Morley crashed through to score.
It was 18-0 at half-time when full-back Michelle Larkin rounded-off a neat move by scoring Barrow’s fourth try.
Castleford needed a quick score after the break to get back into it but Barrow were soon further in front when substitute Kelly Friend got over from close range and Pattinson added the conversion.
The Tigers were given some hope when they made it 24-6 with a try from centre Courtney Evans, after a clever dummy, with Grace Ashurst-Bagshaw adding the conversion.
But on a hot strength-sapping day, Barrow piled on the pressure and completely dominated the final quarter, scoring five more tries.
Morley got her second; India Jackson went over and in a procession there were further touchdowns for Beth Lindsay, Jodie Litherland and Pattinson, who finished with four goals.
