Until they actually announce a new signing the rumour mill is the only indication of whom Carlisle United might be trying to recruit.

Certainly manager Paul Simpson has indicated he is well into talks with a number of players and has suggested that if he is successful there could be nearly double figures of new faces coming into Brunton Park.

Latest name to be circulated on the internet is that of Jesse Debra, a 22-year-old defender who is out of contract at the end of the month with National League side FC Halifax.

One report suggests that the Blues boss is keen on bringing him to Cumbria although Scottish Premiership team Ross County are among other clubs said to be interested.

Carlisle need to bring in a new defender after play-off semi-final hero Ben Barclay went back to Stockport following the end of his loan deal. Morgan Feeney’s future is also uncertain after he was offered an extension of his existing contract.

Debrah joined Halifax in 2021 and has gone on to play 59 games for the Shaymen with three goals from his role at the back.

A Londoner he started his career at Millwall ‘s Academy and although he never made a senior appearance for the Lions he was loaned out to Billericay Town, Eastbourne Borough and Dulwich Hamlet in non-league to gain experience before he was released.
