Workington Reds have made their first new signing ahead of the new season.
Aidan Roxburgh, a 24-year-old full-back who can operate on both right and left, had travelled to Borough Park to complete his one-year deal.
It hadn’t looked so welcoming the last time he was there for he had been sent-off after only three minutes playing for Trafford.
This was in the 2021/22 season and in the home game he scored one of the Trafford goals in a 2-2 draw.
He had spent the season on loan from Chester, his home-town club, after starting his career in the North West Counties with Runcorn Town.
After a good spell with Trafford he joined Altrincham last season but unfortunately injuries restricted his appearances and he spent the latter half of the campaign on loan with Ashton United and Nantwich in the NPL Premier Division.
Reds boss Danny Grainger is delighted to have got the first new face into the club.
He said: “Aidy is keen to make a fresh start and comes to us highly recommended. Following the departures of Charlie Birch and Matty Clarke, it was an area of the team which needed strengthening and Aidy’s versatility will be to our benefit.
“He is an attacking full-back who will be suited to our style of play so I’m looking forward to seeing him in a Reds shirt.”
