A 22-year-old man from Carlisle has died after falling from a hotel balcony in Ibiza.
John McKenna was on holiday in San Antonio with friends.
He reportedly fell from his third floor hotel room he was sharing with a friend.
Emergency services were alerted at around 10.50am yesterday, Friday June 22, and despite attempts to save his life, he died at the scene.
Mr McKenna was a keen footballer and played for Scotby FC.
The team issued a tribute to him on social media, saying: “Today we lost a legend, a brilliant player but an even better person, never forgotten but loved always! RIP big John.”
Cumberland FA said: “Our thoughts are with John’s family & friends as well as his teammates in the Scotby FC family at this time and always.”
An investigation by Ibiza’s Civil Guard has been launched.
