Man arrested on arson charges after major Barrow fire

A man has been arrested on arson charges following a major fire in Barrow.

Emergency services were called at around 5pm on Thursday June 22 to Salthouse Road and Marsh Road. Eight properties were affected and 13 properties evacuated.

A 30-year-old man from Barrow has been arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life. He has been released on bail pending further enquiries.

No one was injured during the incident.

Investigations are ongoing into the circumstances of the fire and police are continuing their appeal for information into the incident.

Officers are appealing for anyone with dashcam who were in the area at the time. CCTV or who witnessed the incident is asked to contact police if they have not done so already.
