Barrow are back in the drop zone after losing a tight Championship game 12-6 at home to Batley Bulldogs.
There was never much in it, as all the points came in the second-half after a rare first period when no points were scored.
In the end it was Batley’s two converted tries, the second one late in the game, which clinched the points for the Bulldogs.
Barrow could only manage a try and a penalty, which put them level at one stage, but they couldn’t fashion another try before Batley came up with the late converted try to win it.
Jimmy Meadows opened the scoring for Batley with a try which was converted by Luke Hooley.
Barrow hit back with a Luke Broadbent try and drew level when Ryan Shaw added a penalty.
It was centre Josh Hodson who supplied the finish when Batley snatched the points and Hooley again put over the conversion.
Swinton’s win over Sheffield moved them out of the second relegation position leaving Barrow and Newcastle in the two vulnerable spots.
