Hadrian’s Wall path in Carlisle will close for two weeks from Monday.
The public footpath, next to the River Eden between the Sheep Mount and Engine Lonning, will be closed to carry out safety work on dying and diseased trees which overhang the path.
To ensure the work can be carried out in nesting season, Cumberland Council said, a habitat assessment will be carried out prior to the start of any work.
A safety inspection on the Eden riverbank path revealed some trees have been affected by ash die back which could cause potential hazards to those using the path.
A diversion will be in place while the path is closed.
