A West Cumbrian festival that has been running for 17 years has announced the 30 acts joining them for its farewell year.

Cast, The View, The Lottery Winners, Bad Nerves and Tom Hingley & The Karpets are just some of the artists topping the bill for The Boof, which takes place on August 18 and 19 at Whitehaven’s Copeland Stadium.

Danny Maudling, promoter and founder of the festival, said: “This year’s line-up is a true reflection of the last 17 years, some of the bands such as the likes of The Lottery Winners have been with us from the very beginning, and have themselves grown into incredible bands and have gone on to play huge stages across the UK – The Lottery Winners recently claiming top spot on the UK album charts!

“It’s been a whirlwind almost two decades of producing the Boof festival and we’re really looking forward to welcoming everyone back for one last hurrah this August.”

Local bands including Colt 45, The Northern Threads, Springfield, Danny Dunnery and The Little Lies will also perform on the main stage.

The festival has welcomed over a thousand bands and 50,000 people since its inception in 2006.

Liz Cannon, director, added: “The Boof has always been about creating an indie experience like no other in the area, and every year the festival has taken place. We’ve done just that. Bowing out with a line-up like we’ve got is an excellent way to close the curtain and focus on our other projects in the area.”

Artist booker Josh Shepherd said: “I’m so glad we are able to bring some of the best upcoming bands alongside some real Boof legends, plus over 30 local acts, I can’t believe it’s been over 10 years since I’ve been working on the festival and this year feels like perfect way to bow and move onto to something new.

“I’m hoping to see many of our Boof friends and family up at the stadium and who knows you might just discover your new favourite artist like I have done over the years!”

Tickets for the last ever Boof are available from mightyboof.com
