Cumbrian police officers will be patrolling areas on bicycles.
The county force has relaunched the initiative for its neighbourhood teams to help increase the visibility of officers, including PCSOs and special constables, and patrol areas where a vehicle may not be suitable.
Sergeant Jack Stabler said: “It will extend their range of patrol. Our officers have large geographic areas of responsibility.
“Officers on pedal cycles will naturally allow us to target antisocial behaviour and crime hotspots whilst also engaging with our communities.
“There is also an environmental benefit to patrolling on pedal cycles as it allows us to to reduce our carbon footprint whilst protecting the communities we live and work in.”
Chief Inspector Lee Skelton added: “During our Week of Action against antisocial behaviour, I am pleased to relaunch the use of marked police pedal cycles back into the community.
“These bikes will improve our patrol strategy and confidence in local towns and villages across the county.
“Patrolling on a pedal cycle will give a new perspective on tackling anti-social behaviour, neighbourhood crime and engaging with members of public.”
