A Diamonds official said: “We’d just like to thank all the people who helped make our first festival such a huge success. The sponsors did us proud and so too did the coaches, the parents and the referees – but most of all the kids who took part.”

The Diamonds play on the old Coronation Boys Club pitch off Moss Bay Road which required lots of renovation to have it opened two years ago.

To get it playable again 20 tonnes of stone was hand picked off by players, parents and coaches; 800kg of top-soil was been put in, and the ground was seeded and levelled.

The ground, which is fenced off to protect it, is also complete with new facilities including toilets, changing rooms and a cafe area.
