Barrow’s Festival of Transport is set to return to the town centre tomorrow.
Classic, vintage and vehicles of interest will line the streets – with Dalton Road featuring cars, Portland Walk brimming with motorbikes and Cavendish Street playing host to scooters, buses and commercial vehicles.
An arena on the town square will host the On the Edge Motorcycle Stunt Show where fearless stunt riders will amaze and entertain the crowds.
Prior to the motorcycle stunt show audiences will be entertained by Gary Bridgens & Ian Duncan providing their unique storytelling show and following the stunt shows the Bread & Butter Theatre Company will provides laughs-a-plenty with their wacky characters.
Scott Street will be transformed into a green street, featuring electric vehicles and eco forms of transport with Wheels4All, Youthability and the CandoFM
stage.
It will also host the Extreme Mountain Bike Show, alongside a full schedule of musical acts and entertainment.
The Larkin Construction Zone on Fell Street car park will allow people to get up close with a variety of construction equipment.
Free classic bus tours will also take place, with the main departure point outside the town hall. Other pick-up and drop-off locations will allow passengers to visit The Roundhouse, Dock Museum, train station and Roa Island.
People can hop on and off the buses throughout the day, so they will be able to enjoy everything that is going on across the town.
The event has been organised by Barrow BID.
Chair Jenny Fazackerley said: “Events like these are important as they attract people into the town and provide an economic boost to local businesses.
“High street retailers have had it hard over the past few years and we need events like this one more than ever to encourage people back to the town, where they will find a warm welcome and a range of businesses eager to serve.
“As well as the economic boost, events like the Festival of Transport are a way of instilling local pride in the town centre and changing the perception of Barrow from the outside.
“We understand that Barrow’s town centre is transforming and high-profile events have a huge part to play in that transformation process.”
