Carlisle United have confirmed that John Jackson has resigned as director of CUFC Holdings Limited with immediate effect.

The club website said that he had left the board for personal health reasons.

Chairman Andrew Jenkins said: “We would like to thank John for his contribution and business input over the last five years, which we have appreciated.

“We have been aware of his health issues over the last 12 months and wish him well for the future.”

In March 2017 the club began a commercial funding arrangement with The Edinburgh Woollen Mill Limited (EWM).

As the EWM Group financial controller, John was appointed to the Holdings Board in June 2018.

The funding owed by 1921 to EWM was subsequently novated to Purepay Retail Limited, where he has been a director since December 2020.
