Bad weather threatens to disrupt the Cumbria League’s Premier Division programme on Saturday for the third week in a row.
After weeks of glorious weather the cricket has been hit by persistent rain, particularly at weekends, which has affected all the matches.
The top three are all at home again – and as they are spread from north, west and south of the county – there is always the possibility that one of them might get lucky on a bad weather day.
Champions Carlisle are at home to improved Egremont; Furness entertain a more competitive Whitehaven while Workington welcome Wigton, who have got their season up and running after a very slow start.
Three home wins will be expected, but perhaps more competitive than the hosts would want – although the forecast suggests that they will all be lucky to complete the fixtures.
Unfortunately it seems that 100% rain has been forecast right across the county for Saturday and most games are unlikely to get started.
But, as we all know, forecasts can be wrong and the hope is that this will be one of those occasions.
Fourth-placed Cockermouth can least afford abandoned fixtures as they have ground to make up on the others and they are due to play at Keswick.
The other scheduled games for Saturday are Haverigg v Millom and Lindal Moor v Cleator.
There’s an equally tight battle for the Division One title with four clubs involved there.
Millom 2nds and Ulverston share the lead on 80 points with Dalton third on 76 and Furness 2nds in fourth on 74.
Big game scheduled for Saturday is Millom 2nds v Furness 2nds while Dalton entertain Kirkby and Ulverston are at home to Workington 2nds.
But they are all in the lap of the weather!
