Peter Hill, the photographer injured in a horror accident at Edinburgh on Friday is recovering from surgery.
Hill, the track photographer for the Monarchs, was injured in the freak incident during the match between Edinburgh and Poole.
West Cumbrian star Craig Cook, the Monarchs number one came off his bike on the fourth turn with the machine taking-off and flying over the safety fence.
It struck a lighting pole which then fell on Hill who received head injuries.
An air ambulance was called to the Armadale stadium and the meeting was abandoned.
Writing on his own personal Facebook page, later shared by the Monarchs, Hill said: “Hello all. Thought I’d provide a quick update. First of all a massive THANK YOU to everyone who took the Time to message and call. I truly felt the love of the speedway family and am blessed to be part of it.
“I have just come out surgery to close two wounds on my head. All went well. I do have small breaks to my C2 and C3 vertebra and will be in a neck bracelet for about 12 weeks but again everything will be fine.”
Workington track photographer Dave Payne said: “I thought it would be Peter when I heard about the accident because that’s where he usually stands to take his pictures.
“He was actually at Workington when Edinburgh opened the season against the Comets back in May.”
