Jude Davison wasn’t expecting to be back competing in his sport of cycling after an accident while out training.
He was left with a serious leg injury six months ago and he had written off any competitive come-back.
But healing faster than he thought he returned to the Carlisle Cycling Association circuit at the end of May and at the weekend he won the North West Regional Circuit Championship event there.
A former swimmer, who switched to cycling seven years ago, Jude is from Dearham and so pleased that he has been able to return to the saddle much sooner than he thought.
In the future he would like to do more road racing, with the Tour of Britain an eventual target but in the meantime he’s just enjoying being back in action locally and standing top of the podium in Carlisle.
Jude spoke to Cumbria Crack’s John Walsh about his return from serious injury, his build-up to the weekend win and how he would like to progress in the sport.
