
Hensingham amateur rugby league have special events planned over the weekend to raise money for a charity close to their club.
Seven-a-side competitions for open age on Saturday and youths on Sunday are the headline events with the money raised going towards the Logan and Gary Lion Hearts fund.
Hosts Hensingham, Kells, Wath Brow and Distington have entered sevens sides for the Saturday tournament.
An open age touch tournament will follow the Under-12s 7s on Sunday and teams can be registered on the day.
Logan Holgate was a Hensingham player, very popular among club members, who died in his sleep aged just 18 earlier this year.
Gary McMahon and Logan were both members of the England Community Lions Under-19 squad that won the European Championships in Italy last September.
England’s assistant coach Gary, suffered heart failure and died just a few days before the final.

In celebration of their lives, the Gary and Logan’s Lion Hearts Fund has been established to provide heart screening for the community Rugby League game in both Cumbria and the North West.
It has so far raised over £22,000.
As well as the rugby, many local businesses will have stalls, there will be bouncy castles and food available, with live entertainment in the evening, Raffles and auctions to raise some more money will be going on as well.
