The first three league fixtures have now been released for Workington Reds Ladies as they prepare for their 2023/24 campaign in the North West Women’s Regional Division One North.

First up, will be a home game against Accrington Stanley Ladies FC, on Sunday August 20, with a 2pm kick off at the Fibrus Community Stadium.

The corresponding fixture last season saw the honours shared in a 1-1 draw at Borough Park.

However, the return fixture proved more rewarding for the Reds as both teams had battled it out in horrendous weather conditions before they edged the game 2-1.

The fixture coincides with the FIFA Women’s World Cup Final which will kick off at 11am and this game could include the England Lionesses as they are still on track to claim a place in the final.

There are plans to televise the game before the Ladies fixture as well as hosting junior girls football matches over the morning. After the game, local musicians The Last Resort, will provide entertainment in the Myers and Bowman Fan-Zone marquee from 5pm.

Admission on the day will be free, as usual, as too will entry into the Fan-Zone after the game. All those attending will be warmly welcomed and their attendance will be greatly appreciated.

Ten days later, they will entertain fellow Cumbrians and County Cup holders, Carlisle United Ladies FC, in a midweek game that kicks off at 6.30pm on Wednesday August 30.

Their first away trip will see them travel to Bolton Wanderers Ladies and Girls FC on September 3.

The only other fixture that is currently known by the Ladies and certainly one for diary, is a mouth-watering Women’s Second Round Qualifying FA Cup tie against Penrith AFC Ladies on October 1 at the Fibrus Community Stadium and again with a 2pm kick off.
